Skull III

Skull III is an experience of a cow elk skull. It is painted with hues of luminous prussian blue, unbleached titanium white and shades of yellow oxide. The background is a blend of neutral grey 5 and titanium white making a calming feather gray shade.

The Skull Collection rests at the center of Mira Helena’s body of work. An ode to silent remains, the Skull Collection is inspired by the animals that grace Montana and the West’s vast landscape. By keenly depicting the many facets of their bones, Mira Helena lays bare a beauty that is calming yet intimidating, eliciting an affecting experience that honors the animal.
