Skull II

Skull II is an experience of a cow skull. It is painted with hues of luminous yellow oxide, pearl white and shades of mars black with hints of sage green. The background is a blend of quinacridone crimson and titanium white making a levitating light pink hue.

The Skull Collection rests at the center of Mira Helena’s body of work. An ode to silent remains, the Skull Collection is inspired by the animals that grace Montana and the West’s vast landscape. By keenly depicting the many facets of their bones, Mira Helena lays bare a beauty that is calming yet intimidating, eliciting an affecting experience that honors the animal.
